Our History
Twin Rivers Church was conceived in the heart and mind of God. God spoke with Pastor Barry Campbell of Highland Baptist Church about planting a church in Central Oregon. As Pastor Barry shared his vision with the HBC staff, Frank Wood, who was serving on staff at the time, suggested that the Church plant be at Crooked River Ranch. Frank and Vicky were holding a Bible study in their home on the Ranch at the time, and several couples who lived on the Ranch were attending. Those same couples were also attending HBC, and after much prayer, it was agreed that this Bible study would be the nucleus for TRCC to begin. The church started with 18 people. The first official TRCC service was on Easter Sunday, 2019. The service was held in the Juniper Room of the HOA office complex, and the Sandbagger Restaurant provided an Easter brunch. About 75 people attended the brunch, and about 60 attended the first service. The church continued to meet in the Juniper room for the next three years, with one exception. During the COVID epidemic, which occurred a few months after the church started, the church did not meet for about three months. Pastor Frank preached to an empty auditorium at HBC, and the message was broadcast over the internet. During this time, the congregation grew slowly but steadily. We saw one person saved and baptized in the first year, seven people baptized in the second year, and more than a dozen in the third year. It was in our third year that the church bought property. HBC had committed to giving TRCC $150,000 to buy land. With that very generous commitment, God led us to purchase 5.6 acres at our current location in the Spring of 2021. God moved the hearts of that small congregation of about 60 people, and they sacrificed to give $600,000 to build our current structure. A $130k loan was secured, and we held our first service on July 10, 2022, in the new building. Over the last two and a half years, we have seen the church grow in amazing ways. God has sent us gifted and committed people, and the church has grown as many young families have joined. We have seen over 50 baptized during this time. We currently have two worship services on Sunday, with youth and small-group meetings throughout the week. Men's and Women's ministries are flourishing, with community outreach and evangelism being our primary goals. Our goal for the future is simple. We want to continue to see souls saved and lives changed. God has given us a wonderful Associate Pastor and his family to work alongside and help us reach more people through discipleship and outreach. To accommodate the church family's growth, we hope to build a new, larger facility. This facility will be designed to meet the growing needs of our congregation and to serve the community in a variety of ways. Our long-term vision is to have many programs to touch the lives of our community. We want to serve, grow, and see hundreds more people come to Christ. I pray that we will continue to teach Christ as the way of Salvation, the Bible as the true Word of God, and the Church as His family here on earth.
